Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Drugs Crimes Directorate at the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police (INP) arrested five suspects attempting to smuggle 19 kilograms of methamphetamine from Malaysia into Indonesia.
Chief Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa of the Drug Crime Directorate, said on Tuesday (16/4/2024) that the suspects were caught trying to bring the drugs through the waters of East Aceh.
They include drug couriers, recipients, and a controller, according to antaranews.com
A joint team from the INP Criminal Investigation Agency and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise stopped the smuggling operation in the waters of Idi Rayeuk, East Aceh.
The suspects confessed that the methamphetamine was intended for distribution in various regions, for which they were paid Rp10 million per kilogram.
Chief Mukti added that the suspects retrieved the methamphetamine from Malaysian waters and transported it to East Aceh using a fishing boat.
