Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir defended the appointment of Major General Novi Helmy Prasetya as the National Food Logistics Agency (Bulog)’s new President Director, calling it a strategic move to strengthen Indonesia’s food security.
He explained on Monday (10/2/2025) that the decision aligns with Bulog’s goal of absorbing 3 million tons of rice equivalent.
“We need fresh perspectives to ensure optimal execution. That’s why we review and adjust strategies based on current targets,” Minister Erick said, as quoted by antaranews.com
With Indonesia striving to reduce rice imports, Bulog must improve its grain absorption, which Minister Erick noted remains low. He believes military leadership can bring a disciplined and efficient approach to achieving food self-sufficiency.
Novi Helmy, previously the Territorial Assistant to the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander, replaces Wahyu Suparyono.
