Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized the crucial role of the Indonesian National Police (INP) in overseeing the government's rice absorption policy to accelerate Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency.
“We appreciate the Bareskrim for ensuring this policy is effectively implemented on the ground,” he said during a discussion with INP officials in Jakarta on Monday (10/2/2025), referring to the INP Criminal Investigation Agency.
The INP Head of Criminal Investigation Agency, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to monitoring rice distribution and ensuring large-scale rice mills absorb at least 20% of farmers’ harvests at the government-set price of Rp 6,500 per kilogram.
“We will take firm action against violations that harm farmers and disrupt food security,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The police also highlighted the issue of long distribution chains and middlemen dominance, which often lead to price instability.
The Food Security Task Force continues to monitor the supply chain to maintain fair market practices that protect farmers' livelihoods while maintaining price stability for consumers.
