inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, encourages transmigrant farmers to transform traditional agriculture into modern agriculture in order to enhance local agricultural productivity.
On this occasion, he said that his party had established cooperation with the Ministry of Transmigratio in an effort to support food self-sufficiency.
"We are building agricultural clusters (with transmigrants), building new economic epicenters in villages which are modern agricultural clusters that transform traditional agriculture into modern agriculture," he said, as reported by Antaranews, on Thursday (1/9/2025).
He said that his party would take a holistic approach and the Ministry of Public Works would build housing facilities for transmigrant farmers. Meanwhile the Ministry of Agriculture would create rice fields with modern agricultural equipment and machinery facilities for use by transmigrants.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transmigration, M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, revealed that the government is designing a transmigration program during the transition period with the aim of improving the quality of the workforce in transmigration areas.
In the initial plan, the government will implement patriot transmigration, which prioritizes sending educated and trained people to transmigration areas.
“We will send those who did not have skills to the transmigration areas anymore as we will send those who have the skills in agriculture,” said Suryanagara.
Suryanagara explained that to produce educated and trained workers, it takes about three to five years, including to prepare qualified school graduates.
The government has planned to send alumni of the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP) who have 2N+1 obligations to transmigration areas as part of the patriot transmigration strategy that is being developed.
