inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, confirmed that the national energy supply remains stable, with fuel quality, both diesel and gasoline, above the national minimum standard.

"Both in terms of fuel products, both diesel and gasoline, in all aspects, everything is above the national minimum standard. So, thank God, it's been two months, almost two months since the geopolitical incident in the Middle East regarding the Strait of Hormuz, and we still survive," said Bahlil on Tuesday (4/28/2026).

He added that crude oil stocks for national refinery needs are also above the minimum limit, so the overall energy supply is relatively secure.

However, the government still faces the challenge of relying on LPG imports. Of the total consumption of around 8.6 million tons per year, domestic production only reaches 1.6–1.7 million tons, leaving around 7 million tons still imported.

As a solution, the government is exploring substitutions through coal-based Dimethyl Ether (DME) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

"We are currently discussing the production of CNG. This is one of the best alternatives to promote energy independence in the LPG sector," said Bahlil.

In addition, the government is preparing a strategy to address a potential global energy crisis, including optimizing oil and gas lifting, strengthening B50 biodiesel, and developing E20 bioethanol.

"There are three things we must do. First, optimizing lifting, then diversifying fuels like B50, and finally promoting E20," highlights Bahlil.

B50 road tests in the automotive sector have shown safe results without significant obstacles, and will be expanded to the railway sector as part of national implementation readiness.

The government emphasized that the combination of supply security and domestic energy diversification is key to maintaining energy security and sovereignty amidst global dynamics.
