No Indonesian Citizens Among Passengers in South Korea Plane Crash: Foreign Ministry

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Indonesian citizens were aboard the Jeju Air flight involved in a crash at Muan International Airport, South Korea, on Sunday (29/12/2024).

Judha Nugraha, the Director General of Indonesian Citizens Protection, said in a astetment that preliminary information indicates no Indonesian passengers were on the plane. 

"We have received informal updates confirming this," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities for further details.

According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the accident occurred at 9.07 am local time when the aircraft veered off the runway while landing and struck a fence. The crash reportedly claimed at least 179 lives, with several others potentially injured.

The Jeju Air flight was carrying 181 passengers when the incident took place, approximately 288 kilometers southwest of Seoul
