North Kalimantan Police Karate Team Wins Gold and Silver at Kapolri Cup

Inp.polri.go.id - Tarakan. The North Kalimantan Regional Police Karate Team excelled at the 2024 Kapolri Cup National Karate Championship in Cibinong, West Java, winning a total of 10 medals.

Team Head Assistant Commissioner Engko Palita Sihombing raised his pride on Monday (29/7/2024) over his team's performance. The event, held from 26 to 28 July 2024, featured individual and team categories with participation from police units nationwide.

The North Kalimantan Police team won seven gold and three silver medals. Notable winners included Second Inspector Eka Vollyanto, who earned a silver medal in kumite over 75 kg and above 50 years, and Brigadier David, who took first place in kumite over 84 kg. Second Brigadier Arnoldus Buto Kolin secured first place in kata for men, while Second Brigadier Theresia Otnel won first in kumite under 55 kg and second in kata for women.

Kumite is a form of sparring in karate where practitioners engage in controlled combat with an opponent.
