NTT Police Deploy 117 Personnel to Assist with Mount Lewotobi Eruption Response

Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang.  The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police have deployed 117 officers as part of Operation Contingency Aman Nusa II to support the emergency response to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi in East Flores. 

The police officers were dispatched from the Bolok Port in Kupang on Thursday (7/11/2024).

The officers are assigned to strengthen the East Flores Police in aiding the victims and restoring facilities and security in the affected areas. They are equipped with various tools, including mobile kitchens, water treatment vehicles, and Watergen drinking water generating vehicles to provide clean water to evacuees.

Senior Superintendent Deonijiu De Fatima, the East Nusa Tenggara Police Head of Operations  emphasized that this deployment reflects the police's commitment to disaster response and maintaining security.

"We are sending these personnel to assist those affected by the eruption," he said.

The medical and psychological teams are included in the deployment. The medical team are assigned to provide health services, while the psychological team will support survivors, particularly those experiencing trauma, such as children and the elderly.

The East Nusa Tenggara Police expected the response will accelerate recovery and ease the burden on the victims.
