Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Manpower Yassierli acknowledged that the country currently faces a significant labor market challenge, with over one million unemployed university graduates as of 2025.
“This is a real picture of today’s reality and a challenge we must tackle moving forward,” he said Yassierli during a session at the House of Representatives (DPR) Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (7/72025).
The Minister cited recent data confirming that 1.01 million university graduates remain unemployed in 2025. The figure aligns with data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), which reported 7.28 million total unemployed individuals across all educational backgrounds.
This puts the national unemployment rate at 4.76% of the total labor force, with an increase of 83,450 unemployed individuals (or 1.11%) compared to the previous year.
To address the growing issue of graduate unemployment, Yassierli emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between government institutions and stakeholders, particularly with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
“Cross-ministerial cooperation is vital to ensure that graduates are equipped with skills that match the demands of the labor market,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com
