inp.polri.go.id – Jabar. The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the West Java Police (Polda Jabar) foiled the smuggling of lobster seeds in the Rancabuaya area, Garut Regency.
Thousands of sand lobster seeds and pearls that were about to be smuggled were also successfully secured by officers. The authorities plan to release them back into the wild.
The ranks of the National Police, along with the Ditpolairud Polda Jabar immediately went to the location after receiving information about a lobster seed smuggling transaction.
"We have found and secured six people who brought or had thousands of lobster seeds," stated the Head of the Gakkum Sub-Directorate of the Ditpolairud Polda Jabar, Commissioner Andik Eko Siswanto, Saturday (19/03/22).
Police Commissioner Andik Eko Siswanto said that until now they are still undergoing intensive examination and they have narrowed their investigation to two people with the initials W and K.
The two suspects are lobster seed collectors and their employees allegedly often doing illegal fishing in the Rancabuaya area, Garut.
"We also secured 8,600 sand lobster seeds and pearls as evidence in this illegal fishing case," said the West Java Regional Police Intermediate Officer.
The two perpetrators violated Article 88 and Article 99 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 2004 and were threatened with a maximum sentence of eight years in prison.
