inp.polri.go.id - East Flores. The Good Friday Procession Night as part of the tradition of Semana Santa in Larantuka, East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, has been going smoothly from Friday night until early Saturday morning.
Semana Santa in Larantuka is a religious tradition that has been going on for centuries and has become an icon of spiritual tourism in East Flores. Maximum security is one of the keys to ensuring worship and the smooth flow of pilgrims coming from all corners
The East Flores Sub-regional Police deployed a total of 275 joint personnel to secure the annual religious activity which is the center of attention of Catholics and spiritual tourists from various regions. Security targeted vulnerable points such as road intersections, eight procession fleets, 20 main lanes, as well as security posts and ten traffic diversion points.
"A total of 275 personnel were deployed, consisting of personnel from the East Flores Sub-regional Police, Mobile Brigade, military, Transportation Service, and Civil Police, also includes a team from Marine security unit," said the East Flores Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Adhitya Octorio Putra, on Sunday (4/20/2025).
According to the Police Chief, the evening procession activities were also directly monitored by a number of officials from the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police.
“We are grateful that the procession was going smoothly. I also want to thank the public for their support and participation in maintaining security. Although there was rain at the beginning of the procession, we are glad that the Semana Santa was going smoothly until the end,” says Adhitya Octorio Putra.
Monitoring until early morning showed that the flow of congregations had begun to subside, but traffic officers were still seen actively regulating traffic at a number of points.
