inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation successfully arrested an Iranian citizen with the initials MT, who was mixing liquid crystal methamphetamine in a rented house in the Meruya area of West Jakarta.
The Director of Drugs Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Albert RD, said the arrest was made following the discovery of 50 grams of methamphetamine within the West Java Regional Police jurisdiction.
"The suspect is an Iranian citizen. He's a drug cook. He has expertise in processing chemicals into class one narcotics," he said, as reported by Antaranews on Thursday (7/10/2025).
He revealed that the suspect had been in Indonesia since July 5, 2025, and was living in a rented house that was being used as a drug laboratory. Officers seized 123 liters of liquid methamphetamine from the location.
He explained that, based on the suspect's testimony, one liter of liquid methamphetamine can be processed into between one and four kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, depending on the purity.
Furthermore, it was revealed that suspect MT was part of the international drug network, the Golden Crescent syndicate.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan, stated that MT's actions were subject to several articles in Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, including Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1), Article 113 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1), and Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1).
"The maximum penalty is the death penalty, life imprisonment, and a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion," he emphasized.
He concluded by stating that his team would continue to investigate this network and did not rule out the possibility that other suspects were involved in the case.
