inp.polri.go.id - Serang. Police have arrested an elder with the initials IB (63), a resident of Kopo District, Serang Regency, on suspicion of sexual assault against a 47-year-old autistic woman, his neighbor.

Serang Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Condro Sasongko, explained that IB was arrested at his residence on Friday (7/11/2025). Police immediately arrested the suspect shortly after officers received an official report from the victim's family.

For further investigation, the perpetrator has been officially detained and is being held at the Serang Sub-regional Police Headquarters detention center.

"The alleged act of sexual assault occurred on Wednesday (6/25) at around 1:30 pm," he said, as reported by Antaranews on Sunday (7/13/2025).

The perpetrator, who lived next door to the victim, took advantage of the situation when he discovered she was home alone. With premeditated malice, the suspect immediately entered the victim's home. However, his actions were witnessed by the victim's young nephew, who was busy playing around the house.

Ignoring the kid, IB is still determined on his actions. The suspect then entered the bedroom and found the victim asleep.

Realizing his actions had been caught by the victim's nephew, the suspect immediately opened the door and brutally kicked the child in the stomach. The witness immediately ran away in fear and summoned the courage to report the incident to the people gathered at a nearby food stall.

Upon hearing the report, people then immediately went to the victim's house. They broke down the bedroom door and found the suspect still committing his heinous act.

In being held accountable for his actions, suspect IB was charged under Article 6, letter c, of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.
