Police Examine 17 Witnesses in Diponegoro University Med Student Bullying Case

Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang.  Central Regional Java Police have questioned 17 witnesses in the suspected bullying case of AR, a specialist medical student (PPDS) at Universitas Diponegoro in Semarang, who passed away allegedly due to bullyi.

"We have taken statements from several of the victim’s classmates," said Central Java Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Artanto, on Tuesday (10/9/2024). 

Officials from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology were also questioned, according to antaranews.com.

Chief Artanto explained that the investigation revolved on the victim’s peers before expanding to others. 

He did not rule out the possibility of interviewing faculty members from the victim’s program. The police also examined documents provided by the victim’s parents and the Ministry of Health.

The medical student, identified as AR,, was found dead in her dorm in Semarang on 12  August 2024, in what is suspected to be a suicide linked to bullying at her university.
