INP Efficient Assistance for Demak Flood Victims: Chief Dedi Prasetyo

Inspector General  Dedi Prasetyo, the Assistant of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief  for Human Resources, said that the INP humanitarian team have managed flood victims in Demak Regency, Central Java, efficiently. "We're providing trauma healing for children, ensuring their needs are met, and offering clean and sufficient shelter," he said on Saturday (23/3/2024), as reported by antaranews.com. Chief Dedi led a high-ranking police delegation visit to the refugee site at SDN Ngaluran, Karanganyar Sub-district, Demak, Central Java, also functioning as a Health and Trauma Healing Post. He was accompanied by Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, the Head of the INP Public Relations Division, Inspector General  Asep Hendradiana, the Head of the INP Health Division, and Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, the Central Java Regional Police Chief. The police have deployed a Trauma Healing Team, Medical Team, and Disaster Alert Policewomen to provide health services and psychosocial support. During the visit, Chief Dedi interacted with children undergoing trauma healing therapy, urging them to engage in light-hearted activities to ease their stress. He also engaged in casual conversations with parents while entertaining evacuees with light-hearted jokes. Chief Dedi added that the humanitarian mission could be extended if necessary. Meanwhile,  Chief Irjen PAhmad Luthfi said that that Demak, Kudus, and Pati remain inundated, with other areas gradually recovering. He emphasized the need to accelerate post-disaster recovery efforts, such as repairing damaged houses and infrastructure. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported six collapsed river embankments in Demak, affecting 24,436 residents as of Thursday. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
