inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. The investigators of Jambi Regional Police successfully uncovered the illegal trading of protected animals on March 26th, 2025 in Jambi City.
In a press conference, led by the Head of Jambi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Boy Siregar on Monday (4/14/2025), police determined the four suspects of the case.
The suspects are Ramli Harun from Tebo, Sutrisno from Koto Ilir, Raja Saudi from Rengat, and Satriya from Tebo.
Boy says that the case begins with an information received by the police regarding the attempt to sell protected animal body parts, namely pangolin scales and rhino horns.
After conducting further investigation, officers suspected a white Toyota Fortuner vehicle that was suspected of carrying the evidence.
"Officers worked together with the Jambi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) to conduct checks at confirmed locations," he said.
As a result, pangolin scales weighing around 1,360 grams were found hidden in a box labeled shrimp chips in the driver's back seat, as well as a rhinoceros horn weighing 605 grams found in the car dashboard.
"If converted into nominal value, the value could reach IDR 1.8 billion," he said.
In addition to the body parts of protected animals, officers also confiscated several pieces of evidence in the form of five mobile phones of various brands and one Toyota Fortuner vehicle.
For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 21 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 40 paragraph (2) of Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning the Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems. The police have also secured evidence and examined a number of witnesses.
