inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. Police are still looking into the mastermind or provocateurs behind the demonstration that turned into riots in Makassar, South Sulawesi. In their efforts, investigators will examine each of the suspects' cell phones that have been seized.

"Regarding the disclosure of the intellectual actor, we are still trying to delve into their communication network," said Makassar Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Arya Perdana during a press conference at the South Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters, Tuesday (9/16/2025).

Arya emphasized that his team will investigate the alleged syndicate in the case. The suspects' cell phones are being examined to check whether there is communication with suspicious individuals or not.

"We will open every cell phone they have so that we can later find out whether this is related to the provocateurs assisted by the intellectual actor related to yesterday's incident," he explained.

He hopes there will be developments in the near future regarding the results of the examination of each suspect's cell phone. Arya ensured that this case will be thoroughly investigated.

"But it is still under investigation. If there are any developments, we will definitely convey them to our media colleagues," added Arya.

As previously reported, police had named a total of 53 suspects in the riots during the demonstration in Makassar. Of those, 11 are minors.
