“The cases of early marriage is in investigation process with Article on forced marriage in the TPKS Law (Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence),” says Head of Sub-directorate of Criminal Investigation Unit for Youth, Children and Women, Superintendent Ni Made Pujawati on Friday (10/25/2024).
In his statement, he revealed that police look into this case because there was an element of coercion.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Child Protection Agency (LPA) of Mataram City, Joko Jumadi, said that the one who reported this case was the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA).
It was said that both parents of the underage children who were married had made a statement that they would not marry their children.
"In fact, they secretly married their children. So the UPTD PPA reported the case to the Regional Police and it is already under investigation," he said.
All people involved in the marriage, especially the parents, have been reported by the UPTD.
