Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. Banda Aceh Sub-regional Police have formed a joint team to investigate the explosive device thrown at the home of Aceh gubernatorial candidate Bustami by unidentified offenders.

"We have formed a joint team involving the special detachment, bomb squad, and other units from the Aceh Regional Police to investigate the incident," said Banda Aceh Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Senior InspectorFadillah Aditya Pratama, on Monday (2/9/2024).

The explosion occurred at Bustami's residence in Gampong Pineung, Banda Aceh, early on Monday. The blast caused minor damage, burning some flower pots and the house’s perimeter wall. No casualties were reported.

Bustami, running in the 2024 Aceh elections, was the province’s acting governor since March this year. He was not home during the attack, and the case is now under investigation.

CCTV footage shows two suspects on a motorcycle throwing the explosive device before fleeing. The type of explosive is still being determined, but a grenade pin was found at the scene
