inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Commissioner of General Election Commission (KPU) Idham Holik stressed that incitement not to use the right to vote is something that is prohibited.

It was reported that the call for not to vote is popping out in regions with only one candidate for the election. The call was also voiced during the protest to the Indonesian legislation body.

The public expression, according to him, is normal during elections with how diverse political stances are in the public. However, he underscores that in Article 280 paragraph (1) of the Election Law, one of the points prohibits incitement or invitations not to vote.

“It is prohibited to invite others not to vote, that is clearly against the law,” says Idham on Saturday (8/31/2024).

He explained that it was wrong if it was used as an expression of the possibility of fighting an empty box. Because, in the election there is only the term non-photo ballot paper, if there is only a single candidate.
