Police Uncovers Diesel Fuel Adulteration Practice in South Sumatra

inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police have revealed the practice of mixing subsidized diesel fuel in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra.

Vice Director of Criminal Investigation of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Superintendent Listiyono, said during a press conference in Palembang on Tuesday that his party had arrested two suspects, namely a driver of a blue tanker truck from PT Putra Salsabila Perkasa (PSP) with the initials HW, and another driver with the initials AJ who was tasked with taking the blue tanker truck to an illegal fuel storage warehouse in Lembak District, Muara Enim Regency.

The arrests of the two suspects were carried out on May 1, 2025 in the early hours of around 02.00 WIB, on the Trans-Sumatra Highway (Jalinsum) in Tebat Agung Village, Rambang Niru District, Muara Enim Regency. The confiscated evidence was in the form of a 16,000 liter oil tanker truck, several mobile phones and documents belonging to the suspects.

He explained the modus operandi carried out by exchanging and mixing diesel fuel from the PT Pertamina Depot with refined oil that was mixed in one of the warehouses in the Lembak area

"The adulterated diesel fuel was planned to be sold to a number of companies in the Muara Enim area and its surroundings," Listiyono explained.

Listiyono said that the uncovering of this illegal practice was thanks to the cooperation of the South Sumatra Regional Police with PT Elnusa Petrofin and Kertapati Pertamina Depot.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 54 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas and/or Article 480 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Criminal Code, with the threat of a prison sentence of 6 years and a fine of IDR 40 billion.
