inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate of Certain Crimes (Dittipidter) of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit uncovers the misuse of subsidized diesel fuel in Tuban, East Java Province, and Karawang Regency, West Java Province. This case involved a number of suspects who are strongly suspected of manipulating the distribution of subsidized diesel for personal gain.
"On this occasion, we convey the results of our case disclosure as we have secured three suspects in Tuban Regency and five suspects in Karawang Regency, who are suspected of being involved in the misuse of subsidized fuel." says Brigadier General Nunung, Director of Certain Crimes Criminal Investigation Unit in a press conference on Thursday (3/6/2025).
The initials of the suspects who were arrested were BC, K, and J from Tuban Regency, and LA, HB, S, AS, and E from Karawang Regency.
Nunung says that police began investigating the case after receiving information about the misuse of subsidized diesel fuel in the two areas. The investigation began on February 26, 2025, and in a short time, the team managed to secure a total of 16,400 liters of misused diesel fuel, with details of 8,400 liters from Tuban and 8,000 liters from Karawang.
The evidence secured by the investigation team includes various vehicles, large drums, jerry cans, as well as pumps and hoses for distributing illegal fuel.
In Tuban, the suspects used the same vehicle repeatedly to transport subsidized diesel fuel by utilizing the barcode stored on a cellphone belonging to one of the suspects. Meanwhile, in Karawang, the suspects made recommendation letters to buy diesel for farmers, which were then used to obtain the My Pertamina barcode.
"After obtaining many barcodes, they repeatedly purchased and transported diesel fuel using motor vehicles. The purchased fuel was then resold at a price higher than the subsidized price," explained Brigadier General Nunung.
For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 40 number 9 of Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation, and Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Natural Gas with a maximum prison sentence of 6 years and a fine of up to IDR 60 billion. In this case, the state is estimated to have suffered losses of around IDR 4.4 billion, with the largest loss coming from Karawang Regency.
