inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has requested the establishment of a business network between Southeast Asian (ASEAN) and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in trade, especially in the halal industry sector.

This was conveyed by President Prabowo in his remarks at the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC).

"We must collaborate in synchronizing the halal standards. We must have a mechanism to mutually recognize our halal certification. And we must increase joint investment to increase capacity building," said the President Prabowo, Tuesday (5/27/2025), as quoted from Antaranews.

The Indonesian Head of State considered that ASEAN and the GCC are natural partners in the halal industry.

Prabowo considered that now is the right momentum to bring the ASEAN and GCC regions closer together to work together and bring benefits to the people of each country.

With a trade value that has just reached 120 billion US dollars, the President is optimistic that the opportunity to increase cooperation between the two regions is still very large.

To that end, President Prabowo welcomed the plan to conduct a joint feasibility study related to the establishment of the ASEAN-GCC free trade area.
