President Prabowo Subianto has ordered Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar to inspect and repair Islamic boarding school (pesantren) buildings nationwide following the fatal collapse of  Al Khoziny Islamic Boarding School building in Sidoarjo, East Java.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said on Sunday evening (5/10/2025) that the President issued the directive during a limited meeting at his private residence on Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta.

“The President instructed Minister Muhaimin and his team to inspect and repair pesantren buildings, ensuring safety standards are met and proper renovation processes are followed,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com

Meanwhile, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that the incident had become a special concern of the President, who continues to monitor rescue and recovery efforts closely.

He added that all pesantren buildings will be evaluated to ensure structural safety. The collapse, which occurred during renovation work on 29 September 29, left 45 dead and 104 survived.
