Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Commemorating the Islamic New Year, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar emphasized the deeper meaning of Prophet Muhammad’s hijrah (migration), calling it not just a physical journey but a transformation in purpose and spirit.

“Hijrah is not merely about relocating — it is a shift in direction. From darkness to light. From stagnation to growth. From the ordinary to the extraordinary, in values and contributions,” he said on Thursday (26/6/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com

The Minister called on Muslims to reflect on their own spiritual migration — moving from routine to meaningful actions, from identity to integrity. 

He praised local traditions such as Tabuik in West Sumatra and Grebeg Suro in Java for blending Islamic values with cultural expressions.
