Inp.polri.go.id - Bantul. Commissioner General Agus Andrianto, the Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), highlighted the importance of political neutrality among police officers as the country prepares for the 2024 elections. He called on the public to report any instances of police officers deviating from neutrality to the INP Professionalism and Internal Affairs (Propam) Division. "If there are police officers who are not neutral in the 2024 General Elections, please report them to the Propam Division. The Head of the Propam Division is ready to address such reports," he said during aan event at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (29/11/2023). The call for neutrality was in line with  Law Number 2.2002 on the INP, emphasizing the obligation of the police force to remain neutral in political matters and abstain from practical political activities. Furthermore,  the law explicitly prohibits members of the INP from exercising their right to vote and be elected. The principle of police neutrality is reinforced by Government Regulation Number 2/2003 on the Disciplinary Regulations of Police Members Article 5 Letter B, which prohibits police officers from engaging in practical politics to safeguard state and societal order. Additionally, Police Regulation Number 7/ 2022 Article 4 Letter H underscores the obligation of every police official to uphold neutrality in political matters within the ethical framework of the state.
