Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has inaugurated Lieutenant General Maruli Simanjuntak as the new Army Chief of Staff (KASAD) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/11/2023) at 2 pm.
Maruli succeedsed Agus Subiyanto, who assumed the role of Commander of the Indonesian Military on22 November 2023.
Brigadier General Kristomei Sianturi, Head of the Army Information Service, confirmed the details of Maruli's inauguration, highlighting the significant appointment at a national level.
Military observer Alman Helvas Ali highlighted Maruli's strong candidacy, citing his previous key roles like Commander of Military Command in Surakarta and Commander of Presidential Security Detail.
"In addition, the fact that Maruli is Luhut Pandjaitan's son-in-law is a subjective factor that cannot be overlooked. Luhut Pandjaitan, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, is President Joko Widodo's trusted figure," he added.
Maruli, a senior officer and 1992 Military Academy graduate, has achieved numerous milestones in his military career.
