inp.polri.go.id - Batam. The Riau Islands Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate destroyed 4.6 kg of narcotics evidence from drug cases uncovered from April to May 2025 in the jurisdiction.
The Director of the Riau Islands Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Anggoro Wicaksono, detailed that the drugs that were destroyed were the result of 12 police reports that were uncovered during the period.
"From the 12 police reports, we arrested 13 suspects," he said.
He noted that the 4.6 kg of narcotics that were destroyed consisted of 3,494.15 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 901.43 grams of heroin, and 191 grams of marijuana.
"The total narcotics destroyed reached 4,586.58 grams," he said.
The destruction of the drug evidence was carried out transparently and witnessed by related parties. Crystal methamphetamine and heroin were destroyed by dissolving them in hot water and dumping them in a septic tank, while marijuana was completely burned using a burning barrel.
Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Zahwani Pandra Arsyad said that the destruction of drug evidence was a form of transparency in handling drug cases in the Riau Islands region.
"The Riau Islands Police continue to synergize with related agencies and the community in efforts to prevent and eradicate drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Riau Islands," said Pandra.
