Inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Sub-Directorate V Cyber of Riau Regional Police's Directorate of Special Crime Investigation is actively addressing potential cybercrimes before the 2024 elections, overseeing, monitoring, and guiding internet cafes in Pekanbaru. The preventive measures, integrated into a cooling system, were implemented across Pekanbaru's internet cafes. "The primary objective is to prevent cybercrimes in internet cafes, particularly in the lead-up to the 2024 elections," explained Police Second Inspector Asdoni, Head of Unit II of Sub-Directorate V, on Saturday (3/2/2024). He urged internet cafe operators to confirm the legitimacy of their businesses through valid operating permits and to maintain visitor registries. Owners were further instructed to actively monitor visitor activities, promptly report any suspicious behavior to authorities, and implement content filtering software to restrict access to prohibited sites. The initiative received positive feedback from internet cafe operators who expressed their readiness to cooperate with the police in preventing cybercrimes at their establishments. He extended his call to the public, emphasizing the need for customers to exercise caution when using internet cafes and report any observed suspicious activities to authorities. "Through effective collaboration among the police, internet cafe operators, and the public, the goal is to minimize the potential for cybercrimes and ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the 2024 elections," he said.
