Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The national search and rescue agency (Basarnas) has extended the SAR operation for victims of the sunken ferry KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya by three days, from Wednesday to Saturday, citing humanitarian considerations.
“Today marks the seventh day of SAR operations. Based on humanitarian grounds and directives from the central government, we’ve decided to extend the search,” said Basarnas Deputy for Operations Ribut Eko Suyanto during a press briefing at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, on Tuesday (8/7/2025).
He stressed that many victims remain missing and highlighted the importance of maintaining SAR personnel safety. Teams will now reassess personnel needs for greater operational efficiency.
KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya ferry that sank in the Bali Strait on 2 July 2025. As of Tuesday afternoon, 30 people have been rescued, 8 confirmed dead, and 27 remain missing. The ferry was carrying 53 passengers, 12 crew members, and 22 vehicles.
