Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Six officers from Malaysia’s Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) have been suspended amid an investigation into the fatal shooting of five Indonesians, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday (7/2/2025).
The Ministry’s Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens, Judha Nugraha, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation covering both the Indonesians and APMM officers.
Malaysian authorities have applied three charges—two against the Indonesians under the Penal Code, including attempted murder and resisting authorities, while the officers face charges under the Firearms Act 1960.
"We respect Malaysia’s legal process and will closely monitor the developments," said Judha, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Two Indonesians have died from injuries sustained in the shooting.. The investigation also extends to alleged smugglers involved in the victims' departure.
