Small Earthquakes Hit Multiple Regions Across Indonesia Early Sunday

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  A number of everal small earthquakes, all measuring below magnitude 5.0, were recorded across various regions in Indonesia from Saturday night to early Sunday morning (6/10/2024, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The first quake, with a magnitude of 3.3, occurred at 8.12 pm on Saturday, 73 km northwest of Bolaanguki in North Sulawesi, at a depth of 19 kilometers. Shortly after, at 9.40 pm, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck 652 km northeast of Melonguane, North Sulawesi, at a depth of 13 kilometers.

Another earthquake hit Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, around 11.16 pm, registering a magnitude of 3.1 at a depth of 10 kilometers. Early Sunday morning, a 4.2 magnitude quake was reported 40 km southeast of Central Mamberamo in Papua, with a depth of 25 kilometers.

At approximately 2.40 am, a magnitude 2.5 earthquake struck 7 kilometers off the coast of Bogor in West Java at a depth of 5 kilometers. It was followed by a 2.7 magnitude quake 16 km northwest of Garut in West Java at 2.44 am on Sunday, a 3.9 magnitude quake located 122 km northwest of Melonguane in North Sulawesi at 3.15 am at a depth of 133 kilometers, and a 3.2 magnitude quake 70 km southeast of Nias, North Sumatra, at 4.24 am. Finally, a 2.5 magnitude quake occurred 49 km southwest of North Morowali, Central Sulawesi, at 4.30 am.
