Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. South Aceh Sub-regional Police have arrested three suspects involved in smuggling Rohingya immigrants after their boat was found adrift near Labuhan Haji.

South Aceh Chief Superintendent Mughi Prasetyo Habrianto said on Saturday (19/10/2024) that the arrests occurred at the Sibande Traffic Post in West Pakpak, North Sumatra, on Friday.

The suspects, identified as F (35) from East Labuhan Haji, A (33) from Tangan-tangan in Southwest Aceh, and I (32) from West Labuhan Haji, were arrested following a raid triggered by information about suspected smugglers fleeing the scene.

Suspect F was allegedly waiting for the arrival of Rohingya immigrants at Desa Lhong Beurawe beach, while A and I were reportedly involved in purchasing a motorboat worth IDR 600 million.

The operation began when police received reports about the suspects linked to a motorboat carrying Rohingya immigrants. The suspects were found in a goods vehicle and taken into custody, along with three mobile phones and the vehicle used in the smuggling operation.
