inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The West Java Regional Police (Polda) noted that the southern route in Cianjur is suitable as an alternative route for the 2026 Eid homecoming, but the road requires several improvements, including the addition of signs and street lighting.
This was stated by West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan during a direct inspection of the condition of the southern route in West Java, from Sukabumi, Cianjur, Garut, to the border between West Java and Central Java.
"We will immediately conduct an evaluation after directly inspecting the southern route in West Java, so that it can be suitable for vehicle use as an alternative route for the 2026 Eid homecoming," said the Police Chief on Thursday (2/5/2026).
He explained that the alternative southern route in West Java can ease traffic congestion in the central and northern routes of West Java during the Eid homecoming and return journeys, allowing travelers to travel from Lebak, Banten, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Garut, and beyond.
To ensure smooth traffic during the Eid homecoming, Chief Rudi added that several things must be improved and prepared to make the southern route safer and more comfortable for travelers.
He explained that along the South West Java route, there is potential for accidents and blackspots in Sukabumi's jurisdiction, so additional warning signs are needed. Thus, his office will coordinate with the local government.
"We will also provide input regarding the lack of public street lighting along the South West Java route, which discourages travelers and motorists from choosing that route," he explained.
Rudi emphasized that after directly inspecting the South West Java route, his office immediately conducted an evaluation by holding a meeting with the local government to address any deficiencies and ensure the southern route is passable during the 2026 homecoming season.
