Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) is investigating 31 companies suspected of contributing to flash floods that hit Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, authorities said on Monday (15/12/2025).
The probe follows a series of disasters linked to environmental damage across key river basins.
“There are nine companies directly linked to river basin areas in Aceh,” Task Force Commander Major General Dody Triwinarto said, as cited by antaranews.com
He explained that eight entities are under scrutiny in North Sumatra, including land-rights holders, with one case already under a formal criminal investigation by the Indonesian National Police (INP). In West Sumatra, 14 companies operating across three river basins are being examined.
Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah said the task force has identified alleged crimes, locations, and responsible parties. He stressed that both individuals and corporations could face criminal charges, administrative sanctions, license reviews, and mandatory environmental restoration to prevent future disasters.
