The President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and Prophet's Mosque, Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, announced that Saudi Arabia removed the barrier to the Kaaba on Tuesday (2/8), at the start of the Umrah season. Muslims who goes to Umrah can now kiss the Black Stone Hajar Aswad.
According to him, this decision is a showcase of wise leadership to facilitate Muslims who visits the Grand Mosque. "Our management is working with all sectors operating in the Grand Mosque to welcome and provide the pilgrims with all services and facilities," Sudais told the Saudi Gazette.
Previously, the authority closed the Kaaba on July 1st,2020, due to the global pandemic of Covid-19.
That policy also caused the restrictions on pilgrims who wants to touched and kissed the Kaaba and the Black Stone Hajar Aswad. Usually, the pilgrims who goes to Mecca kissed the Black Stone when doing tawaf or circling the Kaaba seven times. Hajar Aswad usually becomes the starting lines for the pilgrims to start and end the tawaf.
