inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. The South Sulawesi Regional Police's Medical and Health Division held a press conference regarding the progress of the handling of the victims of the ATR 42-500 plane crash.

In the press conference, the Head of South Sulawesi Regional Police Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Didik Supranoto stated that they had deployed a Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team to identify the victims of the plane crash.

"Since we first heard of the incident, we have deployed a DVI Team to handle the victim identification process. This team is also reinforced by the DVI Team from the Indonesian National Police HQ," said Didik.

He explained that his team is currently focused on collecting antemortem data from the victims' families as the initial stage of identification.

"To date, we have collected initial or antemortem data from the victims' families. A total of eight families have been examined and data has been collected," he explained.

According to him, the antemortem data collection covers various important aspects, such as DNA data, medical data, and administrative data belonging to the victims.

Meanwhile, data collection for the other two victims' families is still in the process of being completed.

Based on manifest data obtained from the airline and an official statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the total number of victims in the incident was 10, consisting of seven crew members and three passengers.

"After all the antemortem data has been collected, the DVI Team will proceed to the postmortem stage. This process is carried out after the victim is handed over or other findings are found by the search team led by Basarnas," he continued.

He added that the victim identification process is carried out by carefully and professionally matching antemortem and postmortem data.
