inp.polri.go.id – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo (Jokowi), asked the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing to fix football stadium facilities in Indonesia. This was conveyed by Jokowi after seeing directly the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang Regency.
Kanjuruhan Stadium, which occured on Saturday, October 1st, becames place where horror had happened in the Indonesian football history. There are 131 spectators who died after watching the match between Arema and Persebaya. During the riots, the stadium, which was packed with 42,000 spectators, turned out to have only a few exits and minimal lighting on road access.
Conditions such as the Kanjuruhan Stadium are actually common in various Indonesian football stadiums.
Communications expert, Rahmat Edi Irawan, sees the need for Indonesian football stakeholders to be willing to communicate openly in fixing every aspect of match management. "If the infrastructure is not adequate, perhaps the number of spectators can be limited. If it is too risky to play at night, then don’t hold the mathc at night," explained the Communications Expert.
