Minister of Trade Budi Santoso stated that the imported goods were the result of inspections in four regions: Surabaya, Makassar, Medan, and Bekasi. The inspections were conducted from January to July 2025 through post-border customs areas.

"Commodities or products that did not meet the requirements included tires, plastic raw materials, cosmetics and household supplies, food and beverage products, traditional medicines, sheet glass, certain products such as textiles, with a total customs value of approximately IDR 26.4 billion," explained the Minister of Trade on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).

He explained that inspections were conducted on 5,766 import notification documents (PIBs). The findings revealed that 5,449 PIBs from 1,424 business actors complied with the requirements based on compliance checks conducted in the e-reporting system.

A total of 317 Import Import Letters (PIB) from 147 business actors were subjected to field monitoring, with 118 PIBs, representing 52 business actors, failing to meet the requirements, and 199 PIBs, representing 95 business actors, complying.

The types of violations included incomplete import approval documents, incomplete surveyor reports, and incomplete type permits for United Terminals for Imported Goods(UTTP), as well as incomplete goods registration numbers (NPB) for products required to comply with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

The illegal imports mostly originated from China, France, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Malaysia.

"Business actors proven to have committed violations have been given sanctions in the form of warning letters to 14 businesses, orders to withdraw and destroy goods to 18 businesses, and temporary suspension of customs access to two businesses," said the Minister of Trade.
