inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The police confirmed that a woman died after being hit by a train on the KM 16+00/1 route in the Kebayoran Lama area, South Jakarta, on Sunday (9/15/2024).
Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam, explained that the incident began when the train control officer received information from the train driver that a woman had been hit.
"After arriving at the scene, the witness saw an unidentified woman lying on the edge of the tracks and died with her left hand severed and her head busted open," he explained in an official statement.
According to him, based on the statement of a witness who was around the location, the woman was warned when she was about to cross the train tracks. However, the warning was ignored as if she had deliberately crashed into the train.
"The witness's screams were ignored by the victim and when the witness shouted at the victim, the witness saw the victim standing with her hands outstretched facing the train that was about to pass," he said.
The victim's body, he said, had been rushed to the hospital for further treatment. On the other hand, he appealed to the public to be more careful when crossing the railroad tracks and to obey the officers' appeals.
