Two Indonesian Soldiers Injured in Lebanon: Foreign Ministry

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi confirmed that two Indonesian peacekeepers were lightly injured due to an Israeli military attack on an observation tower at the UNIFIL base in Naqoura, Lebanon, on Thursday night.

"The attack on the tower in Naqoura resulted in two personnel being injured, both of whom are Indonesian peacekeepers," she stated during the 45th ASEAN Summit in Vientiane, Laos, on Friday (11/10/2024).

According to the details gathered from UNIFIL, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted the observation post (OP-4) at Green Hill, Naqoura, around 5.05 amlocal time on Thursday. The two Indonesian peacekeepers were injured when a Merkava tank fired on the observation tower, causing them to fall, according to antaranews.com.

"Fortunately, their injuries are not serious, but they are still receiving treatment in the hospital," Minister Retno added.

In response to this information, she was informed by the Commander of the Garuda Contingent, Colonel Gouvar, that the two Indonesian peacekeepers sustained minor injuries and are under observation in the hospital.
