inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate of Special Economic Crimes of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency is expanding its investigation into an illegal mining case involving an unlicensed gold processing and distribution network.
Investigators have named two new suspects, identified as DHB and VC.
The Director of Special Economic Crimes of INP Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, stated that this determination follows an expansion of a previous case that ensnared three other suspects, TW, DW, and BSW, who were previously named on February 27, 2026.
"Based on sufficient evidence, investigators have named two new suspects who are strongly suspected of participating in illegal mining activities and money laundering," said Ade Safri on Wednesday (5/13/2026).
According to him, DHB served as Director of PT Simba Jaya Utama (PT SJU) from August 13, 2021, to September 14, 2022. Meanwhile, VC has served as Director of PT SJU from September 14, 2022, to the present.
"DHB is known to be the son of SB alias A, who was previously suspected of playing a key role in the network," he said.
He added that SB alias A himself died in April 2026, so he can no longer be prosecuted. However, investigators are continuing to investigate the case against other parties involved.
In the construction of the case, he said, the two suspects are suspected of jointly carrying out a series of illegal activities, from storing, utilizing, to processing and refining gold from unlicensed mining. Furthermore, the suspects are also suspected of being involved in the transportation and sale of the illegal gold.
Investigators are also investigating alleged money laundering (TPPU) related to the proceeds of these crimes. He said the "follow the money" approach is being used to uncover the flow of funds suspected of originating from illegal activities.
"The suspect is named after investigators have obtained at least five pieces of valid evidence, namely witness statements, expert statements, documents, physical evidence, and electronic evidence," he explained.
