Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. State university Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has permanently dismissed a professor from the Faculty of Pharmacy, for committing sexual violence against several students.

The dismissal of the professor, identified as EM, was confirmed on Sunday (6/4/2025) followed an investigation by UGM’s Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS), which found EM guilty of violating university regulations and the code of ethics for lecturers.

The misconduct reportedly occurred between 2023 and 2024, with initial complaints emerging in July 2024. UGM Rectorate formalized EM’s dismissal via Decree No. 95/UN1.P/KPT/HUKOR/2025 on 20 January 2025.

EM allegedly used academic interactions—such as mentoring and competitions—as a cover for his misconduct, often outside campus. A total of 13 students, including victims and witnesses, were interviewed during the investigation.

Although EM has been removed from his teaching position and former role as head of the Cancer Chemoprevention Research Center, the revocation of his professorial status remains under the authority of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
