inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin hopes that the next new government of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka can continue the program of stunting reduction acceleration program.
“I really hope that the new government can continue our commitment in reducing the stunting rate and maintain the results it has previously achieved. It would be great if they can make the program even better,” says Ma’ruf Amin on Wednesday (9/4/2024).
The VP says the stunting reduction acceleration program has shown promising results after its five years of performance.
“We should be grateful that the stunting prevalence has gone lower from 30.8 percent in 2018 to 21.5 percent in 2023. This means that in five years we are able to reduce the stunting rate up to 9.3 percent, or 1.5 percent per year. This downgrading is one and a half faster if we compare it with the 2013-2018 period,” explains VP Ma’ruf Amin.
He considers that the achievement that has been achieved is the result of hard work, smart work, and collaborative work from all elements involved. However, he also reminded of the big target that still has to be achieved, which is freeing Indonesian children from stunting.
Therefore, VP Ma’ruf Amin gave his special attention towards the importance of continuity of the program.
“Leadership can change and stunting rate can be reduced, but we still have homework that must be completed, which is freeing our children from stunting,” concludes VP Ma’ruf Amin.
