The Deputy for Studies and Management of Political, Legal, Defense, Security, Human Rights and Religious Issues of the Presidential Staff Office, Rumadi Ahmad, says that Pope Francis really admires diversity. In addition, Pope Francis also appreciates the value of Bhineka Tunggal Ika of Indonesia.

“Indonesia has gained international recognition through the visit of Pope Francis who commends the diversity and the value of Bhineka Tunggal Ika. This visit, followed by the visit of Grand Syekh Al Azhar, gives blessing and honor for Indonesia,” says Rumadi on Wednesday (9/4/2024).

Pope Francis appreciates the capability of Indonesia for its diversity and nurturing tolerance. Pope Francis also underscores the importance of preserving the value of Bhineka Tunggal Ika as the key element of national life.

“The speech of the Pope and President Jokowi stressed Indonesia's commitment in tolerance and moderation. This acknowledgement will be a reminder for us to preserve and nurture the value of Bhineka in the society,” explains Rumadi.

In his closing statement, he relays the need to continue the spirit of dialogue and building social justice with the hope that this visit can be the momentum to strengthen our unity amidst the many global conflicts.
