Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The Chief of West Java Regional Police Inspector General Akhmad Wiyagus has announced that approximately two-thirds of its total forces, or a total of 19,475 personnel, will be deployed to address security concerns during the 2024 elections.
"The allocation of personnel is contingent upon the specific stages of the election process and the associated security risks," he said during the ceremonial launch of Operation Mantap Brata Lodaya 2023 on Tuesday (17/10/23).
Hes elaborated that, based on the vulnerability index provided by the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), West Java holds the fourth position among the five provinces categorized as highly vulnerable. This assessment encompasses socio-political context, electoral competition, election organization, and public participation.
"West Java demonstrates a high vulnerability as assessed by the INP, particularly in terms of geographical considerations, such as the positioning of polling stations requiring extended travel time. In the 2019 elections, one regency underwent a re-election, a situation we aim to preempt," he elaborated.
Zacky Muhammad Zam Zam, Chairman of West Java Bawaslu, affirmed that West Java holds the fourth national position, with a vulnerability index of approximately 77 point something percent, and identified Bandung Regency as the most vulnerable. The evaluation incorporates socio-political factors, electoral competition, organizational proficiency, and public engagement as pivotal indicators.
