"I will certainly learn all steps taken by the previous East Nusa Tenggara Police chief," Daniel Silitonga said on Wednesday (13/12/2023).
He expressed confidence that Chief Johanis has taken legal action against those involved in the persecution of Papuan students in Kupang.
"As a new leader, I cannot deviate from the rules," Chief Daniel said, adding that decisions on a legal case must be based on the actual facts and compliance with the law..
He revealed that he had held consultations with traditional leaders, community representatives and youth figures to address the issue of persecution of Papuan students, while at the same time committing himself to maintaining a conducive security situation in West Papua.
During the meeting, community leaders called for the disbanding of the organizations that have persecuted Papuan students in Kupang twice.
