Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Yogyakarta City Sub-regional Police have dismantled an international “love scamming” syndicate operating from Sleman Regency, uncovering a cross-border online fraud scheme targeting foreign victims through fake dating applications.
“This office was used as the operational base for an organized love scamming network,” Yogyakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Eva Guna Pandia said during a press conference on Wednesday (7/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The case was exposed through a sting operation at PT Altair Trans Service on Monday, leading to the arrest of six suspects, including the company’s CEO, managers, and team leaders.
Investigators found the syndicate used a cloned dating app to lure victims from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia into buying digital gifts to unlock explicit content.
Police seized dozens of laptops, mobile phones, and servers, and questioned 64 employees.
The suspects now face multiple charges unde the Criminal Code, cybercrime, and anti-pornography laws.
