inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate and the Belawan Port Sub-regional Police demonstrated significant achievements in drug eradication from January 1 to August 12, 2025.

During this period, authorities uncovered 238 cases with 279 suspects and seized evidence worth tens of billions of rupiah.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police emphasized that drug eradication is a national focus, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto in his 7th Asta Cita, as well as the order of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for the police to wage a "relentless war" against drugs from upstream to downstream.

A press conference held at the Belawan Port Sub-regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday (8/13/2025) revealed that the police has seized a total of 28.74 kg of methamphetamine, 41,396 ecstasy pills, 13 kg of marijuana, 34 sachets of Happy Water, and 150 cartridges of vape liquid containing etomidate.

This amount of evidence is equivalent to saving 225,500 lives and has an economic value of approximately IDR 52.006 billion.

The North Sumatra Regional Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate added that one of the most notable discoveries was the crackdown on a drug international ring from Thailand that smuggled 28 kg of methamphetamine through Belawan Port, packaged in sachets labeled Happy Water. Laboratory tests confirmed the packaging contained a Class I narcotic, methamphetamine.

The police urge the public to actively report suspicious activities related to drugs and thuggery.

"We will take firm action against anyone involved, without discrimination," the Police Chief emphasized.

With the synergy of officers, public support, and the role of the media, the North Sumatra Regional Police are optimistic about creating a safe, conducive environment free from the threat of narcotics.
