inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The West Java Regional Police destroyed 4,599 loud exhausts as a commitment to maintaining public order and comfort, as well as reducing noise pollution.
West Java Regional Police Traffic Director, Senior Superintendent Raydian Kokrosono, stated that the destruction demonstrates the police's commitment to curbing the use of non-standard exhaust pipes, which are considered disturbing to the general public.
"Today, we are destroying non-standard exhausts, often referred to as brong exhausts. This is the result of enforcement actions taken by traffic officers at the West Java Regional Police. Approximately 4,599 have been destroyed," explained the Traffic Director on Wednesday (2/18/2026).
Raydian stated that the thousands of exhaust pipes destroyed are part of a series of actions taken since Operation Zebra Lodaya 2025, which will continue until early February 2026.
According to him, enforcement against noisy exhaust pipes will continue and will continue to be intensified, especially in the run-up to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr to ensure public safety and order remain conducive.
The Traffic Director emphasized that the use of non-standard exhausts is not just a traffic violation, but also has social impacts because the noise generated can trigger the emotions of road users and local residents.
"This noise can incite anger to those who hear it, including other drivers. This can lead to conflict. This is what we are preventing," he explained.
Raydian also highlighted the phenomenon of noisy exhausts being used among young people. Based on the results of enforcement actions, the majority of users are students. He further stated that his department is currently recording the origins of these noisy exhausts and coordinating with local governments to curb their distribution from the source.
